Kay Jensen 4-H Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is in the honor of Kay Jensen. Kay loved what 4-H stood for and what it taught youth. She was involved in 4-H in Idaho helping family members with their projects before moving to Nevada where she was a leader and drove her son all around the state to 4-H events. She made sure that her grandchildren in Montana would join 4-H and enjoy all the wonderful things 4-H has to offer. Even though she never had the opportunity as a child to be in 4-H, she still embodied the spirit of helping others that 4-H teaches. It is a privilege for the family of Kay to be able to carry on helping others in 4-H through this scholarship.

- $2,000 for attending Summer Success Academy (SSA)
- SSA is a month-long experience where scholars stay in residence halls (with free room and board) and work with faculty, mentors, and tutors to get a head start on college-level coursework while getting to know MSU, Bozeman, and their classmates.
- Earn 6 credits before starting the Fall semester by attending SSA, saving additional money

- Career Education Coaches
- Financial Coaches
- Peer Mentors
- Free Tutoring
Who is eligible?
To be eligible for the program, students must:
- Graduate from a Montana High School
- Qualify for a Pell Grant
- Pell Grants are federal financial aid provided based on financial need. Financial need is determined by the difference between the Cost of Attendance (COA) and the student’s Expected Family Contribution (EFC), which is calculated based on information provided in the FAFSA.
This scholarship program targets seniors who are unlikely to attend college. It is common for them to believe they can’t get any scholarships, but the Hilleman Scholars program is looking for them. The program is interested in applications from students who excel, as well as students who may not see themselves as college-ready but with the extra support of the program, would be successful.
For more information, visit the MSU Hilleman Scholars Program webpage, email hillemanscholars@montana.edu, or call 406-994-7627. Please email Rebekah LaCroix at Rebekah.lacroix@montana.edu if you have specific questions about the scholarship itself. If you need other materials to help promote the program (posters, slides, etc.), please reach out to me.
