What is the the Master Gardener Program?
The Montana Master Gardener Program was established as both a educational and volunteer service program. The Master Gardner Class is a 16-hour course covering topics in horticulture and is the first step to becoming a certified Master Gardner. Master Gardeners are an important resource in our community helping to provide fact-based horticulture information and support the county Extension agent.
You can go the Statewide Master Gardener Page to learn more or contact our office.
You do not need to become a Master Gardener to take the class, but we do encourage you to.
What will I learn in the Master Gardener Class?

- Intro to MSU Extension and Master Gardener
- Soils, Nutrients and Fertility
- Plant Growth and Development
- Vegetable Gardening
- Growing Small Fruit and Tree Fruit
- Herbaceous and Woody Ornamentals
