 Women in STEM/SBS  

Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), and Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS)Faculty Learning Community

The goal of the Women in STEM/SBS Faculty Learning Community is to create an informal gathering of women faculty who can learn from campus leaders and each other throughout the year. We have monthly lunches with different visitors and topics of interest. Some topics include:

    • “Giving Yourself the Chance to Shine—Tips for Writing Your P&T Statements”, a discussion with Laura Black
    • “Activity Insight” with Ian Godwin, Assistant Director, Office of Planning and Analysis
    • “Imposter Syndrome” webinar from NCFDD and discussion led by Jessi Smith, Psychology
    • “A Year-in-the-Life of an Assistant, Associate and Full Professor”

Diversity Development Certificate Program

The Diversity Development Certificate program provides training to faculty, staff, and
students to expand their awareness, knowledge, and skills related to diversity to better
serve in their roles at MSU. Level 1 is a 9-hour certificate that is currently being offered
and covers the topics of cultural identity, intersectionality and privilege, and microaggressions. DIV 100 is a prereq for 110 or 120. To learn more check out the Diversity Development Program web page.

Safe Zone Training,

The mission of Safe Zone at MSU is to promote an inviting and inclusive environment that is emotionally and physically safe for LGBTQIQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, questioning) students, faculty, and staff. This is achieved through (1) increasing awareness and education about LGBTQIQ identity, (2) developing and expanding MSU’s network of LGBTQIQ allies as well as increasing visibility of designated ally Safe Zones on campus, and (3) decreasing individual and institutional heterosexism.

This hour-long in-person Equity/Civil Rights training will cover your duties as a mandatory reporter here at Montana State for known or suspected protected class discrimination & harassment, what to do if someone tells you about what they have experienced, and your rights here at Montana State. Spring Hike at Middle Cottonwood Creek

Saturday, June 1, 2019, 9:30 am to Noon.

Weather permitting. Meet thetrailhead.

The hike should be about 2 hours long, and have a 450 ft climb.

 WFC Visioning Session

Friday March 8, 2019, 12:00-1:30 pm, Animal Biosciences Building (ABB) 138

In order to discuss the future policy goals for 2019, we will be holding a Visioning
Session to brain storm ideas for how the overall mission of our group may evolve to
face the challenges of the next decade, and what we should focus on for more immediate
action items. The ideas from this session will be recorded and shared with the WFC Policy Committee to be formed after the meeting.

You are welcome to come by spontaneously or for part of the meeting. We will provide lunch for
those people who

WFC P&T Roundtable

Friday, March 1, 2019, 1:00-3:00 pm, Bozeman Public Library, Small Conference Room

Moderator: Ann Ewbank

This informal roundtable event allowed women faculty to share experiences, ask questions,
and get advice. It was not the official P&T training, but a great opportunity to get a wide
range of experiences, or to problem solve personal issues. The panel members: Tricia Seifert,
Sarah Pennington, Graham Austen, and Carly Urban brought a wide range of experiences as Rentention, Tenure and Promotion applicants, and/or in serving on P&T committees
or as Department Chairs.
