Sally Moyce RN, Ph.D.

Dr. Moyce began her nursing career working with migrant and seasonal farmworkers in Oregon, and it was there that she learned about health disparities affecting this marginalized population. She was also intimately impacted by working with a 23-year-old woman in kidney failure, which led to her dissertation research at the University of California, Davis. She investigated the cumulative incidence of acute kidney injury in agricultural workers in the state of California. She came to Montana State University’s College of Nursing in fall 2018. She teaches courses in research, community-based nursing, and public health nursing.
La Dra. Moyce comenzó su carrera de enfermería trabajando con trabajadores agrícolas migrantes y estacionales en Oregón, y fue allí adonde aprendió sobre las disparidades de salud que afectan la población marginada. Ella también fue impactada íntimamente cuando trabajo con una mujer de 23 años con insuficiencia renal, para luego realizar su tesis doctoral en la Universidad de California, Davis. Ella investigó la incidencia acumulada de lesiones renales agudas en trabajadores agrícolas en el estado de California. La Dra. Moyce llegó a la Facultad de Enfermería de la Universidad Estatal de Montana en el otoño de 2018. Mey Palomino

Mey Palomino (she/her) is a senior majoring in Cell Bio & Neuroscience and Hispanic Studies. Mey was born and raised in Mexico City but has been living in Bozeman for six years. She learned English through her mother, who taught her everyday after school throughout her childhood. Her mother’s teachings fostered her passion for education and the importance of it. Mey has a long-term academic goal of getting a master's degree and then pursue medical school or a PhD program. Throughout her time in Bozeman, Mey has developed a passion for community service and helping others. She has volunteered with Proyecto Salud as a medical translator for their hosted health fairs and is looking forward to working alongside Dr. Moyce in developing a project to promote mental health awareness among the Hispanic population in the Gallatin County area.
Mey Palomino (ella) es una estudiante de último año quien se especializa en Biología Celular y Neurociencia y Estudios Hispánicos. Mey nació y creció en Ciudad de México, pero lleva seis años viviendo en Bozeman. Aprendió inglés gracias a su madre, quien la enseñaba todos los días después de la escuela durante su infancia. Las enseñanzas de su madre fomentaron su pasión sobre la importancia de la educación. Mey tiene el objetivo a largo plazo de obtener una maestría y luego atender a la escuela de medicina o un programa de doctorado. A lo largo de su estancia en Bozeman, Mey ha desarrollado una pasión por el servicio a la comunidad y ayudar a los demás. Se ha ofrecido como voluntaria con Proyecto Salud como traductora médica para sus ferias de salud y está deseando trabajar junto al Dr. Moyce en el desarrollo de un proyecto para promover la concientización de la salud mental entre la población hispana en el área del Condado de Gallatin.
Maya Putnam

Maya Putnam is a second-year student studying Kinesiology Exercise Science and Hispanic Studies. After completing her undergraduate education at MSU, she plans to attend PA school in order to pursue her goal of becoming an orthopedic physician assistant. She is originally from Oregon, and attended a Spanish immersion school throughout her early education years. Maya has volunteered as a translator for both Global Health Outreach and Faith in Practice on short-term surgical trips in rural Guatemala, and is excited about getting involved in the Proyecto Salud Lab.
Maya Putnam es una estudiante en su segundo año estudiando Kinesiología, Ciencia del Ejercicio y Estudios Hispánicos. Después de completar su educación universitaria, ella planea asistir a una escuela de postgrado para lograr su meta de convertirse en un asistente médico especializada en ortopedia. Originalmente de Oregón, Maya asistió a una escuela de inmersión en español durante los años tempranos de su educación. Maya se ha ofrecido como traductora voluntaria para ambos Alcance Mundial de la Salud y Fe en Práctica en corto plazo viajes quirúrgicos en Guatemala y está emocionada de involucrarse con el Proyecto Salud Laboratorio.
Haylee Knutson

Haylee Knutson is a second year student majoring Pre-Nursing with a minor in Hispanic Studies. Haylee was born in South Dakota, where she began studying the Spanish language and culture in middle school. In her years of studying the Spanish language and interacting with the culture in her community, she developed a passion for diminishing language barriers that are so prevalent in the health care system in the United States. She believes that promoting health equity should be a top priority for health care professionals. She is excited to work with the Proyecto Salud team to ensure access to healthcare education and services.
Haylee Knutson es una estudiante en su segundo año, quien se especializa en Enfermería y Estudios Hispánicos. Haylee nació y creció en Sioux Falls, Dakota del Sur. En octavo grado comenzó a estudiar español y la cultura, en estos años, creció su pasión y actualmente ella quiere disminuir las barreras lingüísticas en el sistema de salud en los Estados Unidos. Ella cree en que debe haber igualdad en los servicios, los cuales deben ser una prioridad para los profesionales de la salud. Haylee está emocionada de poder ser parte del equipo Proyecto Salud para así poder asegurar el acceso a la educación y los servicios de salud.
Hayden Kaufman Schiller

Hayden Kaufman Schiller is a second-year student studying Nursing with a minor in Hispanic Studies. Hayden was born in Utah and attended a Spanish immersion school from grammar school through highschool. Her involvement with the Spanish immersion program exposed her to many translating opportunities working with the Spanish speaking population in her hometown. Hayden is a translator at the Proyecto Salud Health Fairs and is excited to start her research as part of the Proyecto Salud Lab.
Hayden Kaufman Schiller es un estudiante de segundo año que estudia Enfermería con una especialización en Estudios Hispánicos. Hayden nació en Utah y asistió a una escuela de inmersión en español desde la escuela primaria hasta la escuela secundaria. Su participación en el programa de inmersión en Español la expuso a muchas oportunidades de traducción trabajando con la población hispanohablante en su pueblo natal. Hayden trabaja como traductora en las Ferias de Salud de Proyecto Salud, y está emocionada de comenzar su investigación como parte del Laboratorio de Proyecto Salud.
Cassidy Crawford, M.S., RD, LN, CHI

Cassidy (she/her/hers) is a Registered Dietitian, Licensed Nutritionist and Certified Healthcare Interpreter. She works to expand access to culturally competent and inclusive nutrition services in her role as a Clinical and Community Dietitian. An interest in the Spanish language and health equity led Cassidy to volunteer as an interpreter at the Proyecto Salud health fairs. It was there that a conversation with Sally Moyce began the project that would come to be known as "Mujeres Unidas" and her role as the Nutrition Consultant. With a passion for community-based nutrition and an interest in medical Spanish, Cassidy is right at home on the PS team and wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
Cassidy es una Nutrióloga Registrada, Nutritionista Licenciada, e Intérprete Médica Certificada. Trabaja para expandir el acceso a servicios de nutrición culturalmente competentes e inclusivos en su papel de Nutrióloga Clínica y Comunitaria. Un interés en el idioma español y la equidad en salud llevó a Cassidy a ofrecerse como intérprete voluntaria en las ferias de salud de Proyecto Salud. Fue allí donde una conversación con Sally Moyce inició el proyecto que llegaría a conocerse como “Mujeres Unidas” y su puesto como Consultora de Nutrición. Con una pasión por la nutrición basada en la comunidad y un interés en el español médico, Cassidy está como en casa en el equipo de PS y no querría estar en ningún otro lugar.
Jhenniffer Cifuentes

Jhenniffer is originally from Colombia. She has been living in the United States for the past five years with her husband and daughter. She is deeply grateful for the opportunity to be part of Proyecto SALUD and to continue working in the health field.
Through her work with SALUD, Jhenniffer has been able to apply her knowledge and experience in the medical field. She has also had the wonderful opportunity to work with Community Health Partners (CHP), the Gallatin County Health Department, and the City of Bozeman. Jhenniffer has focused on supporting the community through partnerships and compassionate care, especially advocating for the Hispanic population by helping raise their voices and address their needs.
Jhenniffer is very happy to continue being part of this team and to witness the growth of Proyecto SALUD as it supports health education, prevention, health promotion, and research initiatives such as behavioral activation therapy.
Jhenniffer es originaria de Colombia. Lleva cinco años viviendo en Estados Unidos con su marido y su hija. Está profundamente agradecida por la oportunidad de formar parte del Proyecto SALUD y seguir trabajando en el ámbito de la salud.
A través de su trabajo con SALUD, Jhenniffer ha podido aplicar sus conocimientos y experiencia en el campo de la medicina. También ha tenido la maravillosa oportunidad de trabajar con Community Health Partners (CHP), el Departamento de Salud del Condado de Gallatin y la ciudad de Bozeman. Jhenniffer se ha centrado en apoyar a la comunidad a través de asociaciones y atención compasiva, especialmente defendiendo a la población hispana, ayudándoles a alzar sus voces y a abordar sus necesidades.
Jhenniffer está muy contenta de seguir formando parte de este equipo y de ser testigo del crecimiento de Proyecto SALUD, que apoya la educación sanitaria, la prevención, la promoción de la salud e iniciativas de investigación como la terapia de activación conductual.
