Microbiology: Environmental Health Option
The Environmental Health Option is a nationally accredited degree program which prepares
students to go directly into the environmental health workforce after graduation,
or go on to graduate school in environmental health, public health, occupational health,
toxicology, epidemiology, global health, etc. or go on to medical school. The interdisciplinary
program of study includes environmental health science, microbiology, cell biology,
chemistry, toxicology, epidemiology, risk assessment, infectious disease, anatomy
and physiology, ecology, statistics and geographic information systems. All majors
have the opportunity to complete a three credit internship or research experience.
Some majors also complete the global health minor, the Honors College curriculum
and/or the water resources minor, or double major with the medical laboratory science
program or a biology or environmental science degree. Environmental health students
are eligible to apply for specific scholarships and internships limited to nationally
accredited degree programs such as ours. Students must have a 2.5 or better GPA to
