If you want to learn how to use Tempest beyond the instructional video, please come to the monthly training or the Tempest office hours. Both of these can be found on the Tempest homepage.
For logging into Tempest, make sure of the following:
1. You are on MSU-Secure Wi-Fi or the MSU VPN
2. Log in with your student account netid@student.montana.edu
There are several codes that Slurm uses to signal why a job is doing what it is doing. These codes can be viewed with the squeue command.
If you're running some sort of GUI based software on the priority partition, the software can run into issues when the node it's being put on is busier than normal. To avoid this, use the 'Interactive' partition which has reduced resources but avoids the issues caused by the priority nodes being busy.
