Mission

The Economic Development Council will guide Montana State University’s economic development efforts. The goal of these efforts is to fulfill a key element of Montana State’s land grant mission by providing service and outreach to support and grow our state’s economy in an equitable, sustainable way. The Council will provide strategic advice and partnership to the core economic development team to complete those efforts.

  • Strengthen connections between Montana State University and the state’s business community and private sectors  
  • Identify opportunities for students and faculty to engage with policymakers and business leaders to participate in economic development activities  
  • Promote Montana State University economic impact with local, state, national, and international stakeholders  
  • Improve knowledge of economic development best practices among faculty and staff at Montana State University  
  • Establish goals and metrics for sustainable economic growth in the State of Montana to support the long-term success of the State  
  • Participate in business attraction visits, seminars, conferences, and other economic development-focused activities related to the University’s mission
