University Studies Additional Offices: Reid Hall
Description of Request
Submitted By: Janet Heiss-Arms
The Space Management Committee recommends approval of the assignment of Reid Hall room 432, 434, 435, and 436 to support the establishment of a cohesive University Studies suite of offices. In an effort to enhance coordination, visibility, and student access, this request will support relocating the full-time US101 First-Year Seminar Director and Assistant Director, who are currently located in Gaines Hall Rooms 130H and 130J, into Reid Hall. If approved, the offices in Gaines would return to the Advising Commons to accommodate their staff. The proposal also includes establishing a shared hoteling office for US101 non-tenure track faculty to work and meet with students, as well as assigning an additional office to accommodate a Business Operations Manager who will be onboarding in May 2026. The offices are anticipated to be vacated by faculty from the Mark & Robyn Jones College of Nursing following the opening of Jones Hall this spring, and are immediately adjacent to the Director’s current location, presenting a strategic opportunity to create a cohesive University Studies suite of offices. Consolidating these functions in close proximity would strengthen operational efficiency, improve collaboration among staff, and provide increased visibility and accessibility for students served by University Studies programs.
