Description of Request

Submitted By: Carolyn Long, Director of LIFE Scholars

The Space Management Committee recommends approval of the allocation of Reid Hall 443 for use by the LIFE Scholars program. The LIFE Scholars program has grown, increasing from two full-time staff to four, resulting in three FTE sharing a single office, creating privacy concerns. Reid 443 has been identified as a viable workspace for LIFE Scholars’ use as it is immediately adjacent to their existing space. The requested space would support the Career Development Coordinator, which would allow her to conduct student interviews and consultations, as well as meetings with parents, vocational rehabilitation partners, and business and employer representatives, in a manner that ensures student confidentiality. LIFE Scholars currently serves nineteen students with individualized needs, and the assignment of Reid 443 would provide appropriate space to meet the program’s operational and confidentiality requirements.
