Land Resources & Environmental Science (LRES) & Microbiology & Cell Biology Lab Allocations: Leon Johnson Hall
Description of Request
Submitted By: Robert Peterson, Jovanka Voyich
The Space Management Committee recommends approval of a coordinated series of laboratory reassignments within Leon Johnson Hall (LJH) requested by the Department of Land Resources & Environmental Sciences (LRES) and the Department of Microbiology & Cell Biology (MCB). These adjustments address backfill needs resulting from recent faculty retirements and support new tenure-track hires while improving overall research space utilization. The proposal reassigns LJH 637/637A to Dr. Daniel Colman to support his Environmental Microbiology program and proximity to other researchers and shared BSL-2 infrastructure; retains LJH 815/816 for a forthcoming LRES hire in Environmental Water Systems Science; and assigns LJH 523/522 to Dr. Sophie von Fromm. Collectively, these coordinated moves align laboratory resources with current research needs, relieve pressure on limited wet-lab space, and support strategic growth in both departments
