BOZEMAN — A team of Montana State University business students placed third recently in a competition focused on financial analysis.

Ian Hastings, Alex Boozer, Dan Penoyer, and Davis McCall participated in the CFA Institute Research Challenge, an annual competition that provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis. This year’s competition was held Feb. 9 Spokane, Washington. In addition to placing third overall, the team also received the highest score of any participating team on the live presentation and question and answer session with the judges. All four students are studying finance in the MSU Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship.

Adviser Peter Rubicam said he was proud of the team’s efforts.

“They displayed a very high degree of preparedness and professionalism in that session, deftly answering every question that was thrown at them by the panel of industry experts,” Rubicam said. “I am very proud of the job they did, and feel that they represented the (Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship) extremely well.”

Hastings is from Nederland, Colorado; Boozer is from Mountain Brook, Alabama; Penoyer is from Fort Collins, Colorado; and McCall is from Gig Harbor, Washington. All are seniors.
