Finding a job on campus is a student-driven process. Our role is to provide tools, guidance, and resources. Students are responsible for contacting employers, following up, and managing their applications. This mirrors real-world job expectations and helps you build professional skillyou’lluse beyond college.

    • Not hearing back or not being selected does not mean you did something wrong.Don’t feel discouraged when this happens. What you should do next is to keep applying to positions, look over your application materials, and schedule an appointment with career services for resume or interview help. 

 

  • How to quit a job
    • Leaving a job the right way is just as important as getting hired. Whether you are graduating, changing schedules, or accepting new opportunities, quitting professionally helps protect your reputation and keeps you eligible for future campus employment along with keeping good relationships that could bea good resource or reference in the future.  
      • Step 1: Decide to Leave before you act. 
      • Step 2: Give Proper Notice. 
        • Students are expected to provide at least twoweeks' notice unless otherwise stated by your department. Notice should be given directly to your supervisor. Do not quit by: Ghosting, stopping your shifts, asking student employment staff to notify your manager. 
      • Step 3: Resign professionally in writing: even if you tell your supervisor in person, you should alsosubmit your resignation in writing (email). Your resignation should include: your last working day, a thank you for the opportunity. Keep it short, respectful, and professional. 
      • Step 4: Work your remaining shifts. After giving notice: continue showing up on time, complete your remaining scheduled shifts, and help with transition or training if asked. Leaving responsibly reflects positively on you andmaintains good relationships.
